Pollen and its Effect on the Cardiovascular System

March 2nd, 2017

Spring is one of the nicest times of the year, but not for those who suffer from allergies. Hay fever season begins and itching eyes and a running nose start. Few people know, however, that severe allergies impact the immune system and the cardiovascular system as well. The inhalation of pollen (and other allergens) can lead to airway inflammation increasing the risk of bronchitis and asthma. Chronic inflammation and lung disease stress the immune and cardiovascular systems in various ways, possibly leading to an increased risk of heart failure or heart muscle inflammation.

If you have been suffering from allergies for years, you should receive treatment to prevent unwanted side effects. We have compiled a list of worthwhile tips and measures for you on our Heart Tips Site, to help you get through pollen season more easily!
